Property Tax Alert: Indiana

Businesses harmed by the recent flooding in Indiana may be eligible for assessment relief on their property. Taxpayers must file a Form 137R, which is available from the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance at www.in.gov/dlgf under the Forms tab. The taxpayers’ petitions will be reviewed to determine if reassessment is warranted. If so, then the affected area will be reassessed. Any reassessment would affect the assessed value of the property as of March 1, 2003. Attach as much information about the damage as possible to the petition. Deadline to file is December 31, 2004.
