Penalties and interest will not be imposed on businesses affected by Hurricane Ivan that are unable to file Florida tax returns and pay tax due on business activity for the month of August by the close of business September 20. Businesses in the affected counties that are able to do so should file tax returns and pay tax due by close of business on September 27. Businesses that file returns and pay tax due by this date will be eligible for the dealer collection allowance. The Florida Department of Revenue will work with businesses that have made a good-faith effort to file returns but that have been unable to do so by September 27.
