A private contractor who is hired to conduct Mississippi property tax reappraisals and who will perform substantially all of the reappraisal activities is required to furnish a payment and performance bond to the county that is not less than 100% of the contract price. Although there is no statutory requirement, counties have the discretion to require payment and performance bonds from private consultants who are hired to perform certain functions of reappraisal work.
