Property Tax Alert: District of Columbia

July 2005

Property owners with unpaid District of Columbia property taxes have until the day their property goes up for auction at the Office of Tax and Revenue's annual, public tax sale beginning July 11, 2005, to pay any taxes due and avoid having their property sold. The tax sale will continue each day, except Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays, until all the real properties advertised for that day are sold. This year, 3,843 properties will be auctioned, representing $10 million in commercial and residential real property tax liens for which property taxes were in arrears on October 1, 2004.
