Property Tax Alert: Florida

The Florida Department of Revenue has released information regarding tax guidelines for Florida taxpayers affected by hurricanes during the 2005 hurricane season. The information includes general guidelines, sales tax policies (including information on temporary housing), and property tax issues. The guidelines specifically state that, on a case-by-case basis, the Department will work with filers from counties designated as federally declared disaster areas who, despite good-faith efforts, are not able to file sales tax or other tax returns as required by law because of the impact of Hurricane Dennis.
