Property Tax Alert: Louisiana

The city of New Orleans is authorized to impose upon each tax recipient governing body a fee not to exceed 2% to defray the cost of collecting Louisiana property taxes. The collection cost charged will be deducted by the director of finance for the city of New Orleans from each tax recipient governing body's proportionate share of property taxes. The proceeds received from the collection charge will be deposited into the general fund for the city of New Orleans.
