Property Tax Alert: North Carolina

The payment of North Carolina property tax and registration fees on motor vehicles will be consolidated into one payment and will be due on the same date. This consolidation will become effective July 1, 2009, or upon the completion of an operational integrated tax collection computer system, whichever is earlier. Additionally, effective January 1, 2006, the interest on unpaid taxes on classified motor vehicles is increased from 2% to 5%.
