Property Tax Alert: California

Recent law changes that restrict information that state and local agencies can post on the Internet does not apply to or affect the copy of the property tax assessment roll that is either located in a California county assessor's office or accessible through computer terminals located in the office. The state Revenue and Taxation Code specifies the contents of the assessment roll and requires that certain information be identified on the assessment roll. The legislation was enacted in 2006 and is effective January 1, 2007.
