California county property tax assessors and clerks of the county boards of equalization are reminded that counties must establish a filing period for taxpayers to submit applications for an assessment appeal. Based upon each county assessor's notice to the county clerk as to whether a specified assessment notice has been provided to taxpayers by August 1, the clerk will, in turn, notify the State Board of Equalization (SBE) as to whether the last day of the filing period for the county will be September 15 or November 30. The county clerks should provide those dates to the SBE no later than April 13, 2007.
