Property Tax Alert: Texas

Texas Governor Rick Perry has signed S.C.R. 20, which allows the state to implement the school property tax cut passed in 2006. Specifically, the measure permits the 80th Legislature to appropriate state tax revenues not dedicated by the Texas Constitution for fiscal years 2008 and 2009 in an amount not more than $14.191 billion in excess of constitutional spending limitations.
