Property Tax Alert: Vermont

The Vermont Legislature has passed H.B. 88, which would enact an education property tax rate reduction for fiscal year 2008. If enacted into law, the bill would reduce the rate for nonresidential property from $1.59 to $1.38 per $100 of equalized education property value. The rate for homestead property would be reduced from $1.10 to $0.90 multiplied by the district spending adjustment for a municipality, per $100 of equalized education property value.
