Property Tax Alert: Missouri

Legislation has been enacted that allows the city of Gladstone to levy separate and differing Missouri property tax rates for real and personal property as long as the city bills and collects its own assessment. The separate and differing rates cannot exceed the city's tax rate ceiling. The governing body of the city of Kingsville has also been authorized to impose, upon voter approval, an annual real property tax at a rate of up to 35¢ per year on each $100 of assessed valuation to fund the construction, operation, and maintenance of a community health center. In addition, public water supply districts are allowed to accept payment by credit card or electronic transfers of funds and charge a fee for such a service.
