Why Outsourcing of Non-core
Processes Makes Good Business Sense

Volume 1

Why should you consider the outsourcing of certain business processes, such as property tax management? The benefits can be substantial.

Some of the many advantages are:

  • Higher Service Levels. Experienced service providers generally can improve service levels over those of internal operations for many reasons. The main reasons are: service providers should have the outsourced process as their core competence, they can share the cost of expertise and other resources over many customers, and they have developed proprietary procedures, processes and technology to service their customers.
  • Lower Costs. Service providers who use shared resources and world-class procedures, processes and technology can provide services for lower costs than internal operations.
  • Centralize Operations. Service providers should provide convenient communications to the customer. They should also provide seamless end-to-end performance of the outsourced function across the enterprise. Last, the provider should rapidly consolidate and standardize operations across the customer’s organization.
  • Customer Focuses on Core Business. Generally, a service provider takes responsibility for the entire function or process to be outsourced. This enables the customer to focus on their core business and not internally managing the business function. Normally, the customer maintains a staff to manage the outsourced relationship, process vendor requests and monitor performance.
  • Accepted Business Practice. Many companies, large and small, have embraced outsourcing as a normal business practice. There are many business processes and functions that lend themselves to outsourcing, including ?back-office? functions, such as property tax management. Because property taxes are regulated on a state and local level, companies with diverse property holdings can greatly benefit from the expertise of an experienced property tax management firm.
