Senior Property Tax Analyst

Background

Background or knowledge in the property tax assessment of utilities and related entities, real estate appraisal, personal property appraisal, business valuation, and value settlement/negotiations preferable. The ability to communicate with clients at all levels of their organization is essential. Financial and/or accounting background is essential.

Potential Responsibilities

  • Maintain central assessment information in system.
  • Analyze company financials and file returns on various property types to appropriate assessment authorities.
  • Evaluate real estate and personal property values (both tangible and intangible), on a unitary as well as summation basis. Analyze value notices for possible appeals.
  • Negotiate value settlements and file appeals when necessary. Attend formal and informal hearings and present evidence supporting value positions. Support clients in litigation efforts.
  • Proactively seek all possible value reductions and tax savings.
  • Communicate with clients regarding assessed values and property tax accruals.
  • Communicate and coordinate tax management efforts with other employees to completely satisfy all of our client’s tax management needs.
  • Identify possible new areas of service to provide to existing clients and assist in the sales and marketing efforts to create new business.
  • Provide an exemplary level of service, with integrity, to fellow team members and clients that ensures total client satisfaction with Rash and Associates.
  • Understand and follow office procedures, including those in the Employee Handbook.
  • If assigned staff to manage, provide leadership, guidance, training and accountability for those assigned. Ensure accomplishment of their responsibilities, as stated in their Job Expectations.
  • Hold or work towards obtaining designations or licenses.
  • Attend continuing education/certification courses as needed for Consultants Licenses, Real Estate Appraisal licenses, etc. as required.

Necessary Traits/Characteristics

Must be able to accurately analyze financial data. Must also be able to work independently, take direction, communicate with other staff, and coordinate internal procedures to provide exemplary service to clients. Organizational skills must be excellent, as well as the ability to accomplish all tasks within stated deadlines. Communication skills with clients, management and staff should be excellent. If required, management skills to supervise assigned staff should be excellent.

Account Manager

Background

Five to Seven years experience or background in property tax or related field is required. Knowledge of basic accounting is necessary. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred. Excellent communication skills required. The proven ability to supervise a diverse team of individuals is the essential job requirement.   

Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly train and track progress of all staff. Ensure efficiency and effectiveness of all individual team members.
  • Meet weekly with each staff member to understand their current workflow, timelines, issues, questions, etc. Take responsibility to assist in resolving staffs’ issues with systems, clients, other departments, special problems, etc.
  • Regularly evaluate existing staff for strengths and weaknesses. Develop appropriate improvement plans to help that individual take on more responsibility and advance in their career.
  • Understand department priorities and deadlines and ensure completion of all department obligations in a timely manner with a high degree of client satisfaction and no penalties or missed deadlines.
  • Understand and resolve client issues with regard to tax return processing, tax assessments, tax payments, bills, protests and check writing issues. Develop rapport with clients and understand their needs.
  • Ensure proper analysis and processing of all assigned tasks, such as property maintenance, lease analysis and setup, asset processing, return processing and filing, tax assessments processing and protest, audit processing and resolution and client reporting needs.   
  • Provide input and guidance for ongoing improvement of department procedures, policies, and systems as to increase efficiency and improve client service. 
  • Regularly maintain department procedures to ensure quality of service by each team member. Procedures should be taught regularly (as tax seasons change, at a minimum) to all staff members.
  • Report to Sr. management on weekly basis on complete status of the department.
  • Thoroughly understand and follow office and department procedures to effectively manage tax administration needs, including Employee Handbook and Tax Administration Procedures. Supervise adherence to office policies and procedures.
  • Communicate and coordinate with all other departments to completely satisfy all of our client’s tax management needs.
  • Provide an exemplary level of service, with integrity, to staff and clients that ensures total client delight with Rash and Associates.
  • Hold all necessary licenses or certifications as required. Attend all continuing education as required

Property Tax Administrator

We are currently seeking an individual to fill a position as a property tax administrator. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years work experience in property tax, accounting, bookkeeping or a related skill. Our ideal candidate is an analytical "numbers person". Absolute requirements are: attention to detail, organization skills, prioritization skills, ability to multi-task and ability to handle deadlines. The ability to learn quickly, be a self-starter and take additional work responsibility over time is also essential. Proven communication skills are also necessary. Finalist candidates will be subject to a full background check.
